Safe & Green: Disaster Education and Resilience for Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Communities
The Safe & Green: Disaster Education and Resilience for IDP Communities project aims to reduce climate-related displacement risks among vulnerable communities in Iligan City, Philippines. Targeting Typhoon Sendong-affected internally displaced persons (IDPs), the project will strengthen disaster preparedness through community-based disaster risk reduction training, first aid education, hazard mapping, simulation exercises, and the establishment of Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM) Committees. Over 12 months, the project will build local capacity, improve community coordination, and support sustainable resilience measures that help vulnerable households better prepare for floods, landslides, and other climate-related hazards. Implemented by RDRRAC, the project seeks to enhance resilience, reduce disaster impacts, and prevent future displacement in high-risk communities.
