LAND-CRAFT: Landscape-scale Decision Support System for Climate-Resilient Agroforestry and Sustainable Livelihood Transformation in Selected Municipalities of Catanduanes
Abaca farming is the economic backbone of Catanduanes, and it is highly exposed to typhoons, landslides, and shifting rainfall. This project will develop a practical, map-based decision support tool that helps communities and local planners in selected municipalities identify where and how to introduce climate-resilient agroforestry, such as intercropping abaca with protective tree species and stabilising vulnerable slopes. The tool will be built through participatory workshops with farming households so that interventions reflect local knowledge and priorities. By protecting abaca-based livelihoods against climate shocks, the project aims to reduce the pressure on rural families to leave their land and to support their capacity to stay and adapt in place.
