EcoBlock Micro-Facility: Community Hollow Block Production Using Recycled Plastics & Glass (Bagatabao, Catanduanes)

Philippines · Asia Pacific · Barangay Bagatabao, Municipality of Bagamanoc, Province of Catanduanes (facility and collection within Bagatabao; training and market linkages across adjacent barangays)
About this project

The intervention tackles a dual climate challenge: (i) waste leakage that worsens flooding and (ii) fragile housing repeatedly damaged by storms. By converting low-value plastics/glass into quality-tested CHBs, EcoBlock reduces environmental load, lowers home-upgrade costs, and builds long-term resilience through safer local materials. Intended change: a closed-loop, barangay-scale enterprise that delivers continuous adaptation dividends-cleaner surroundings, green jobs, safer shelters.
